Best Logistics, Inc. is the only Northern California logistics and public warehouse service provider with direct access to the West's major ports, railroads and highways, offering a national network of connections for warehousing and transportation services.

Best Logistics, Inc. originated from the San Francisco Bay Area where Bert Artlip, our original founder, served as foreman of operations in Northern California for the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1968, Bert was promoted to sales for the Santa Fe Trails. He was convinced that he could create opportunities for Santa Fe to backhaul imports from the Western US to the Midwest and East coast utilizing the rail system. Consolidating imports into trailers from the Port of San Francisco for what would be the first TOFC movements using Custom’s house license #15, Bert was successful. In 1971, the rail industry made the decision to change their over the road and intermodal business models, and at that time, Bert became a key operator for a local IMC. Realizing his passion for serving customers and growing business, in 1973, Bert purchased his own trucking company in Berkeley. To better serve its’ customers from a centralized Western US location directly located on Interstate 5 and within minutes of the major domestic rail hubs, Best Logistics moved to the Central Valley, where today is home for many large retail and manufacturing distribution centers.

Bert’s children, Greg and Erin, have served the industry since the 1980’s and have also served companies such as Viking Freight Systems (now Fed Ex) and Pepsico Foodservice.

In 2009, Best Logistics expanded their operation to the Port of Stockton where they operate as long-term tenants of the Port and serve many local, regional and international businesses in the food, consumer, retail, industrial and building markets.
